Sensor commissioning is an important step in setting up and enabling occupancy in your building(s). However, like any technical process, it can sometimes be accompanied by errors or challenges. This article will guide you through common errors during sensor commissioning and how to resolve them.
Understanding Commissioning Errors
Validation errors during commissioning can arise due to various factors regardless whether you import / commission your sensors manually one-by-one or in bulk. Understanding the nature of these errors can help in quick troubleshooting and ensure that your sensors are set up correctly.
Here are the most frequent validation errors and their solutions:
1. Sensor ID is mandatory
Cause: The Sensor ID field cannot be left empty.
Solution: To add and commission a sensor, you must provide a sensor ID. Always make sure there is no white space before or after the ID.
2. Sensor ID must be unique
Cause: The sensor ID attached is not unique.
Solution: Each sensor ID must be unique and cannot be linked to multiple locations. When bulk importing sensors, duplicates will be ignored.
3. Sensor ID cannot contain emojis
Cause: We've implemented basic format validations and that does not and include or allow emojis to be used.
Solution: Use basic characters, and spaces only when importing or adding sensors
4. Multiple sensors added on one line
Cause: Multiple sensor IDs are added on a single line during bulk import.
Solution: If you find sensor IDs missing from your total sensor count, double-check that you haven't accidentally added multiple sensor IDs on a single line during the bulk import process.
5. Sensor ID has 200 characters or more
Cause: The sensor ID commissioned is longer than 200 characters.
Solution: Mapiq only allows sensor IDs with fewer than 200 characters.
