Once you have created a kiosk, it's time to start configuring your kiosk screen. There are different configuration options, from placing a kiosk marker on the floor plan, setting rotations to limiting the visible meeting rooms. In this article we're going to focus on the Map view, setting the correct starting position.
Note: To configure your Map view it is required to already have a kiosk created. Please refer to our article Adding a Kiosk for instructions on how to do so.
Configuring the Map view
When configuring the map view, there are a few options available to the admin. We're going to cover the following options:
Location
Rotation
Facilities within view
The steps outlined in the corresponding sections can be accessed by navigating opening the kiosk you want to configure and selecting Map view.
Kiosk location
As the section already indicates, the kiosk location is determined in Location tab under Map view.
First select the floor, using the dropdown menu, where the kiosk is located.
Now you can place the marker on the location where the kiosk is located. Click on the marker and drag it to it's corresponding location.
The map is interactive and zoom functionalities are available by scrolling your mouse. Zoom in to position the marker more accurately.
Either click on Next or on the Rotation tab to finalize the position of the marker.
Note: Sometimes the marker is not directly visible in the view visualized under Location. Play around with the zoom level to find the marker and drag it to it's rough position before positioning it accurately.
Rotation
In the Rotation tab you can set the proper orientation of the screen in relation to how the user is facing the kiosk screen. Differently put, if you're looking at the lift standing in front of the kiosk screen, then rotate the floorplan so that the lift on the floorplan is in front of you.
Open the Rotation tab and locate the yellow kiosk marker you set on the Location tab.
Rotate the floorplan using the bar below the map. Either drag the bullet along the line, or directly click on the line to directly move to a specific degree.
Either click on Next or on Facilities within view to set your rotation and continue on to the final step in setting the map view.
Note: If you're adjusting an existing kiosk a rotation is already set. Double-check that location and rotation are inline with the new location of the kiosk screen.
Facilities within view
The Facilities within view tab allows you to set up the minimum zoom level on the kiosk. Ensuring that recognizable elements are always in view. Click on the nearby facilities, areas or meeting rooms to get a proper preview of your floorplan, so that the floorplan is recognizable for the person using the kiosk screen. Skipping this step could sometimes result in a completely zoomed in view, that makes it hard to orientate.
The Facilities within view will show a preview of the floorplan. To achieve the desired minimum zoom level, click on nearby facilities, areas and/or meeting rooms to make sure they're always in view.
Selecting an item on the map, highlights the selected item blue on the map. Additionally, your preview changes to be inline with the selected items.
Continue with selecting additional items until you're satisfied with the preview.
Finalize the configuration by clicking on Save.
You're directed back to the Kiosk configuration tab, in which you can see the updated Map view inline with your set marker location and rotation.
Press Save & publish to ensure the new view is saved. Closing the window through the cross or Cancel will discard the changes you made!
We're now setup to start working on the Room configuration and linking the meeting rooms you want to showcase on the kiosk screen.
