Importing Badge Data

Understanding how many people actually come to the office, and when, is one of the most fundamental questions in workplace management. While booking data gives a strong signal, it doesn't capture everyone: visitors, people who forget to book, or employees in buildings that don't use desk reservation. Badge access data fills this gap. It reflects reality as it actually happened: who entered the building, when, and how often. With the Badge Importer, organizations can now bring this data into Mapiq Insights and unlock a ground truth view of office attendance, without needing a direct system integration.

Importing Badge Data

  1. Go to the admin portal by visiting https://admin.mapiq.com.

  2. Go to the Insights tab in the navigation.

  3. Go to Data sources on the left hand side of the screen.

  4. Select your file and upload a .csv file, the file can be dragged and dropped via the file picker.

  5. Choose your privacy level in the privacy settings (Keep personal data, Keep department info, Fully anonymous), click Save settings to confirm the privacy level.

  6. After the AI-powered transformation review and confirm the changes. When satisfied, click Save dataset to complete the import.

Behind the scenes

  • CSV is the only format for now β€” The file must have a header row. Files without one are not yet supported.

  • One building per file β€” Imports are scoped to a single building. A master file that mixes many locations cannot be split for you.

  • Imports power the Office Attendance report β€” Once badge data is saved, the Office Attendance deep dive report becomes available for that building.
