Enabling Extras for Enhanced Employee Experience

Extras allow you to quickly link to web pages or send an email with just a click. For example, create Extras relating to catering services for events requiring lunch, or add an email address to allow employees to report facility issues easily.

What types of Extras are available in Mapiq?

Mapiq supports three different Extras categories, each displayed in specific places in the user app:

Description

Workday Extras

They are displayed on the day overview page, allowing employees to add extras to their workdays.

Event Extras

They are shown on the event detail page, enabling extra requests when creating an event.

General Extras

Found on the employee's profile page, covering general extras not related to a workday or Event.

Predefined extras are available in each category. Select the desired extras from the dropdown list, add an optional description, and provide the URL.

Configuring an Extra

To configure an Extra, follow these steps (we'll use Workday Extras as an example, but the process is identical for Event- and General Extras):

  1. Log in to the Mapiq Admin Portal and go to Settings > Extras.

  2. Choose the type of Extra you want to add (in this case, Workday Extras) and click on Edit.

  3. Select the applicable Extra from the dropdown menu, and add a description and URL.

  4. Press "Save" and your Extra is now live.

⚠️ Keep in mind that the description field has a 65-character limit. There are no character restrictions for the URL.

URLs & Potential Errors

When entering content in the URL text box, it must follow a specific format depending on the type of link:

  • For external websites, use either https:// or http://

  • To trigger your default email client to send an email, add "mailto:" before the email address, for example:

🚨 Scripts or code snippets are not supported, and any attempt to use them here will result in an error letting you know that the code might be harmful and will not be accepted.

How are Extras displayed to your employees?

Once you save your newly created Extra, it will be displayed to users on the profile, event, or day overview, depending on the workday type.
