Importing Sensors
Updated over a week ago

Before you can commission sensors and thus enabling occupancy data to be collected and processed for your building, the first step is to get your sensors into the Mapiq system. Whether you're adding a handful or importing in bulk, Mapiq offers a streamlined process tailored to your needs. This guide will walk you through both manual and bulk import methods.

Manual Sensor Import

Manually adding sensors is ideal when dealing with a smaller number or when adding sensors sporadically.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Navigate to Buildings > Select the desired Building > Click on "Sensors."

  2. Click on "+ Add" to initiate a new sensor entry.

  3. Input the Sensor ID and Location.

β€‹πŸ’‘ If you add both simultaneously, the sensor is instantly commissioned.

  4. Once added, a data bar appears, indicating the sensor's health. Clicking on a sensor you open up up a side panel revealing more details about that sensor, such as its status, provider, latest occupancy data, the time of the last update, etc.

Bulk Sensor Import

For larger installations or when setting up a new building, bulk importing is a time-saver. Mapiq allows you to bulk import sensors to the environment, saving you much time while commissioning your sensors.

⚠️ Keep in mind that only sensor IDs are added by bulk importing.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Navigate to Buildings > Choose the relevant Building > Select "Sensors" > Click on "Import."

  2. A window will pop up, prompting you to list the sensor IDs. Ensure each ID is on a separate line. A handy counter keeps track of the number of IDs you've entered.

  3. Once all IDs are listed, click "Import." A confirmation message will appear upon successful import.

  4. To finalize the process, each sensor needs to be commissioned. Click on a sensor entry and search for its location next to Name. Once the right location is chosen, confirm by clicking "Done."
