Enabling Occupancy with Elsys
Updated over a week ago

Mapiq seamlessly integrates with Elsys, one of many sensor providers specialized in workspace- and meeting room (PIR) sensors. This integration offers a comprehensive view of building occupancy, empowering admins with actionable insights derived from Mapiq's Analytics.

In this article, we'll review what type of data you can measure and how to enable occupancy with Elsys within Mapiq.

Note: To leverage occupancy within Mapiq in general, you must have the Occupancy add-on enabled for your subscription. If you're uncertain whether this add-on is included in your package or wish to acquire it, please get in touch with your Customer Success Manager.

Supported Occupancy with Elsys

Elsys sensors are designed to measure "availability occupancy" only - whether a given space is occupied or free to use. These sensors are available as both workspace- and room (PIR) sensors, and they can be connected to various building elements in Mapiq, including:

  • Desks

  • Areas

  • Facilities

  • Meeting Rooms

Connecting sensors to specific parts of your building is achieved through what we call "commissioning". For a detailed guide, we recommend you review our Commissioning Sensors article.

Enabling the Elsys Integration

The status of whether the Elsys integration is enabled or not can be monitored within the Admin Portal under Settings > Integrations:

Administrators cannot manually toggle and enable this integration. Instead, Mapiq oversees the whole process of enabling Elsys for your Mapiq environment, ensuring a smooth and automated experience. Once the integration is enabled, the status button will indicate it with an "enabled state".

Note: Enabling the integration is only the first step; it doesn't mean immediate data flow.

Post-Enablement Steps

Once Elsys is enabled in your environment, Mapiq immediately starts configuring the necessary gateways and sensors. The Elsys sensors will then be shipped to you, where they need to be installed in their designated spot. Usually, this is done by yourself, but Mapiq onboards you on how to do this.

Here's a brief overview of the whole process:

  1. Elsys sensors and gateway(s) are prepared and dispatched.

    1. The gateway(s) get the proper configuration before shipping. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. On-site, Elsys sensors are installed at their designated spot (meeting rooms, desks, etc).

  3. These sensors can subsequently be imported into Mapiq either manually or through bulk import. For a step-by-step guide on this, check out our Importing Sensors article.

  4. The final step involves commissioning and linking the Elsys sensors within Mapiq to the relevant desk, meeting room, facility, etc. Once correctly set up, the sensors begin relaying data to Mapiq immediately.
