For intuitive wayfinding set up your map accurately so that the building is recognizable for your employees, and they can find what they need. In the building editor, you can draw the building and specify all workplaces, meeting rooms, and facilities. To help you get started, we have compiled a number of best practices.
Map scale
It is important to set the map scale correctly. If dimensions are available on the floorplans, use those to draw the scale. Otherwise, to ensure you set an accurate scale, we suggest to:
Use a standard door's dimension and set it to 0,9m.
Set a standard desk size first (140x80) and make them match the floorplans by changing the scale
Avoid overlapping shapes
Ensure you add enough spacing between desks, areas, and rooms to avoid awkward overlaps.
Simplify shapes
Try not to capture every tiny detail of the floor plan, but create a simplified map, removing unnecessary details.
Draw complex shapes by using fewer points.
The outline of shapes that are very close together should join seamlessly.
The positions of office elements can be adjusted to make the maps look better.
Small elements on the floor plan can be increased in size to make them more visible on the map.
Type of resources
Make sure to annotate each element with the correct type of resource to avoid unexpected problems in other places.
This will ensure meeting rooms, workspace areas, and facilities will appear on the map in a recognizable way.
This will ensure the right resources end up within the right functionalities of the app, for example in the desk booking flow.
Saving changes
Changes are saved automatically, but keep an eye on changes that are still being validated, indicated by a loading state in the bottom left corner of the page.
Some changes can result in issues and need to be addressed, make sure to resolve them before publishing the building.
Check what your draft changes look like on the map by using the preview mode in the right top corner.
The building needs to be published to make your changes go live. Unresolved conflicts or errors need to be reviewed.
