Resolving Issues in the Review Panel

Before a building change goes live, the review panel checks your draft and tells you exactly what stands in the way. Every issue it finds comes with a clear message and a link to the spot where you fix it. Resolve them all and your building is ready to publish.

The review panel

You open the review panel with Review & publish, from the building overview or from inside the building model. It has four tabs:

  • Overview: whether you can publish, what publishing will touch, and how many changes are waiting.

  • Issues: everything that blocks your publish.

  • Impact: what publishing will affect, such as reservations and building services.

  • Changes: everything that is about to go live, grouped per floor.

🚨 Important: You can only publish once every issue on the Issues tab is resolved. Impact never blocks a publish.

How issues are shown

Issues are grouped by type and by the building element they belong to. When several items share the same issue, they appear as one row, for example "3 meeting rooms", which you expand to see each item. Click a row and Mapiq takes you to where you fix it. Outline issues, and any desk or facility issue, open the floorplan. Everything else opens the side panel of the area, meeting room, floor, or building.

Some issues have their own label in the review panel, such as Name missing or Invalid outline. Others show the message itself as the row caption. In the table below, Server text means the review panel shows the message instead of a label.

Issues and what they mean

The table lists every issue the review panel can show. Text in square brackets is filled in for you, such as a limit, a name, or the type of element.

Below you can find an overview of a few special issues that require more context as they interact with other validations or can result in unwanted actions.

A crossing outline hides other issues

When a floor outline crosses itself, Mapiq stops checking the areas, meeting rooms, facilities, and desks on that floor. The same happens with an area, room, or facility outline that crosses itself. Fix this one first, and expect new issues to appear once it is solved.

Some outline issues open the side panel

A crossing floor outline, and holes that sit outside their outline, open a side panel, but you fix them on the floorplan. Open the map editor from the panel to redraw the outline.

Floor plans and outlines go together

A floor with a floor plan image needs a scale and a floor outline, and every area, meeting room, and facility on it needs an outline of its own. A floor without a floor plan cannot have outlines at all. If you remove the floor plan, remove the outlines too.

Only the end desks are checked for position

Mapiq checks whether the first and last desk of each island sit inside the area outline, and only when the floor has a scale. Desk issues are reported per desk, not per desk island.

Room emails must be unique everywhere

A meeting room email can only identify one room, also across buildings. The message names the building where the email is already in use.

Something went wrong validating

This means the check itself could not run, not that your building has a problem. Try again in a moment, and contact us if it keeps happening.

Behind the scenes

  • Only issues block a publish — Impact is there to inform you and never stops you from publishing.

  • The panel waits for your latest edit — When you open it, your most recent change is saved first, so what you review is what you publish.

  • The issue count updates as you work — The building header shows the number of blocking issues while you edit. Processing a change can take a few seconds.

  • Names only need to be unique where they live — Building names are unique in your environment, floor names in a building, area names on a floor, desk names in an area, and meeting room names in a building.
