Getting started with Services

Updated this week

Using Mapiq's Services feature formerly known as Extras, workplace leaders can add links to all services they are offering to their employees, such as a ticketing/FMIS system, catering supplier, visitor registration system or a sports class. Because of Services, employees have one application as their go-to spot to arrange their workday.

Where to find Services?

Services are configured within the Mapiq Admin portal (https://admin.mapiq.com) and can be found under Settings >> Services. On the Services page you'll find four different service categories you can setup. Within the services you can define a service type (e.g., Request support, Report a problem). Finally, you can set the a Resource to where the service should link to.

The different services

Mapiq supports four different service categories, each displayed in specific places in the user app.

Category

Description

Example(s)

General services

These services will be visible on the Home page of the Mapiq user app. You could use these for services that should generally be available.

  • Report a problem

  • Request support

  • Adding a link for registering for an event.

Office day services

These services are visible on the Plan page in the app. When your employees have planned a day at the office, you can add services available for that specific office building.

  • Booking a locker

  • Signing up for lunch

Event based services

Event based services apply to scheduled events and are shown on the detail page of an event.

  • Request a custom seating arrangement

  • Reporting a problem with the setup

  • Requesting catering your visitors

Location based services

Add services connected to a specific (type of) location.

  • Report a problem for meeting rooms or workspaces

  • Control of lights or temperature

Service types

Where the Service categories dictate where you can view the service, the service types tell your employees the purpose of the service offered. Do you need to report a problem, or do you want to request lunch for your visitors? Service types got you covered. Select the desired service from the dropdown list and start configuring your service. Change the name, set a description, and set the location(s) where the service should be active (especially important for office- and location based services). Lastly choose the applicable resource.

Resources

As mentioned earlier in this article, resources help link you to the specific service offered. Mapiq currently supports three resource types:

  • URL

  • Microsoft form

  • Email

Using smart placeholders when setting up the resource can help automate your workflow and disclose important information around the user or location from Mapiq to your external system. For example, you can setup an email template to report a problem to your facilities team with all location information prefilled.
