When you're connected with colleagues in Mapiq, you can see where they're working and plan your own bookings nearby. This makes it easier to coordinate in-person collaboration and work alongside the people you need. Whether you're looking to join a colleague in a specific workspace or want to book near your team, the connections feature helps you stay aligned.
This guide shows you how to find and book a workspace near your connections.
Finding workspaces near your connections
Booking near your connections combines the visibility features explained in Find where your Connections are working with Mapiq's standard booking flows. Throughout the booking process, whether you're using the week overview, day overview, or booking flows, you'll see connection indicators showing where your colleagues have made reservations. These indicators appear in your Plan tab as you select your workday location, and they become even more detailed in the Find tab's list and map views where you can see exactly which workspaces your connections have booked.
When you're ready to make your booking, simply follow your normal workspace booking flow while using the connection information to guide your choice. If you're booking for the current day, you can also reference check-in data to see which connections are actually in the office right now, giving you real-time confirmation of their presence. Keep in mind that if you want to work directly with a colleague, group bookings remain available regardless of connection status, allowing you to invite anyone to coordinate workspace reservations together.
Behind the scenes
Mutual acceptance is required before connection indicators appear in booking flows. You and your colleague must both accept the connection request to see each other's workspace bookings and locations.
Connection indicators update in real-time as colleagues make or change bookings. When a connection books a workspace, their presence immediately becomes visible in your
PlanandFindtabs for that date and time.Timeslot bookings affect visibility in the
Findtab's list and map views. If a connection booked a morning slot and you're viewing the afternoon, they won't appear as present. The system respects actual availability windows.Check-in data requires the check-in feature to be enabled by your organization. Without it, you'll see planned bookings but not confirmation that connections have actually arrived at the office.
Group bookings work independently of connections. You can invite any colleague to coordinate workspace reservations together, whether they're an accepted connection or not.
