When someone invites you to a Group, you receive an invitation that you can accept or decline. Accepting gives you visibility into the schedules of all Group members, while declining removes the invitation without any consequences.
Invitations appear in the Connect tab alongside connection requests. You can review the Group's description and see who's already a member before making your decision. If you ignore an invitation, it remains pending for one month.

Behind the scenes
Group invitations are entirely consent-based. You must explicitly accept to join.
Declining an invitation has no negative consequences and simply removes the invite.
Invitations remain pending for one month if ignored.
Once you accept, you gain full visibility of all Group members' schedules and equal rights to manage the Group.
Accepted members can invite others, remove members, and even delete the Group.
Group membership doesn't automatically create connections with other members.
