Bulk Assigning Users to Parking Profiles

Streamline user management by assigning multiple users to parking profiles in bulk, saving time and effort

Updated over a week ago

You can assign users to these profiles after creating your parking quota and parking location profiles. Once users are set, the parking profile policies will be enforced for those users. You can assign users individually, but it's also possible to bulk assign a group of users to a profile saving you valuable time. In this article, we'll tackle the bulk assignment.

CSV Import

A CSV file is the ideal way to bulk import user groups into specific profiles. The process is the same for workspace quota and workspace location profiles. The CSV file should contain a list of email addresses.

To import a CSV list, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Access >> Parking quota profiles >> Edit >> Edit users.

  2. We recommend downloading the user list by clicking "Download user list." If empty, it serves as a perfect template for adding email addresses. If it's already populated, append users below the last email address.

  3. When your CSV file is ready to upload, click on "Select .csv file" >> Confirm >> Save.

Transferring Users

You can follow the same steps to transfer existing users into a different profile. Mapiq recognizes if an email address is already active in the profile. If not, the users are assigned to the new profile.

Managing Your CSV File

When you download your CSV file via the "Download user list" option, you'll receive a CSV file with one information column. Column A contains a header called "Email" followed by a list of email addresses. To add users, add the email addresses below the last entry. After appending and saving your CSV file, you can import it by following the earlier steps.

Users Are Not Deleted

Removing users from the CSV file and uploading an empty CSV file will not remove them from the profile. CSV imports only transfer or adds users to the profile! A CSV file is evaluated based on email addresses. Unknown email addresses are added as new users. If an existing email address is encountered and is not already part of this profile, the user is transferred.

Upload Order

If an email address accidentally exists in two CSV files uploaded to different profiles, the user is added to the profile where the latest CSV import occurred. For example, if an email address in the CSV list is imported to profile A, the user is added to profile A. If, afterward, a CSV import takes place for profile B containing the same email address, the user is transferred to profile B. A user can only exist in one profile.
