Managing Parking Bookings

Effectively manage parking reservations, ensuring smooth parking experiences for users

Updated yesterday

Managing parking bookings can be controlled from the Bookings tab after navigating to the Parking spots section. Filter and view reservation data across all your parking lots, spot irregularities, and keep your data accurate, all from one place. Whether it's a no-show or a last-minute change, admins can delete individual reservations or clean up in bulk to free up spots for colleagues who actually need them.

What admin roles can adjust parking reservations?

Not all admin roles have the same level of access to the Parking spots tab. Here's an overview of who can view and who can also make changes:

View & edit (delete) parking reservations

  • Subscription Administrator

  • Building Administrator

  • Booking Administrator

  • Booking Assistant

View only

  • Booking Host — can access and filter the Parking spots tab, but cannot delete reservations.

Deleting a single parking reservation

Parking reservations are displayed in a separate overview within the Bookings tab, accessible via Bookings > Parking spots. Each row shows the date, parking lot, zone, and the employee who made the reservation. For more background on how parking reservations relate to other booking types, see The relation between Booking types.

To delete a single parking reservation:

  1. Go to the Bookings tab and navigate to Parking spots.

  2. Use the date range, filters, or search to locate the reservation you want to remove.

  3. Click on the checkbox in front of the reservation you want to delete.

  4. Click Delete in the right top (above the table).

  5. Confirm by clicking Delete in the prompt that follows.

The affected user will be notified in Mapiq that their reservation has been deleted.

Bulk deleting parking reservations

When you need to clean up multiple reservations at once bulk deletion saves time. To bulk delete parking reservations:

  1. Go to the Bookings tab and navigate to Parking spots.

  2. Apply filters to narrow down the results to the reservations you want to remove. This is important — see the note below.

  3. Click on the checkbox in front of the reservations you want to delete, or check the checkbox in the column header to select all reservations across all pages.

  4. Click Delete in the right top (above the table).

  5. Confirm by clicking Delete in the prompt that follows.

⚠️ You can only delete 30 reservations at a time. Selecting all via the column header checkbox selects reservations across all pages, not just the visible ones. If your selection exceeds 30, the deletion will not go through. Use filters to reduce your results to 30 or fewer before selecting all.

Behind the scenes

  • Parking reservations share the same tab and retention period as workspace bookings — both are accessible under the Bookings tab and follow the same data retention settings.

  • Default data retention is 30 days — configurable per subscription between a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 600 days.

  • Data is anonymized after the retention period expires — once expired, reservations can no longer be linked to a specific employee.

  • Booking data is available via the Mapiq Public API — within the retention period, parking data linked to an employee is accessible through the API as well.

  • Parking bookings do not support timeslots — a parking spot can only be reserved for the full day, not a partial window.

  • You can only have one parking booking per workday — in case you have multiple workday location per day, it’s not possible to add a parking reservation on both workdays.

  • Booking on behalf is not supported for parking — creating a parking reservation on behalf of a colleague is not possible. This can only be done for workday or workspace bookings.
