Getting started with Find

Navigating your workspace can often be challenging, especially when searching for specific resources. Mapiq's Find page is designed to simplify this process, allowing you to understand and utilize your office resources more effectively by leveraging an interactive map. Compatible with both web and mobile platforms, Mapiq tailors its interface to your screen size to provide a comfortable and user-friendly experience.

Understanding and navigating the map

Whether you use a desktop or mobile device, Mapiq's functionality remains consistent, with slight variations to suit different screen sizes.

On a desktop (https://app.mapiq.com), you can take advantage of the larger screen size to see all the information at a glance. You'll see the list of available rooms alongside the map. You'll see more room details if you click a room's name in the list or on the map. If you hover over a room name in the list corresponding to a room visible on the current map, you'll see a hover effect slightly enlarging the map indicator.

On a mobile device, the Find feature gives you two viewing options: a list view and a map view. You can switch between the two using the icon in the top right of the screen.

Any filters you apply in one view will also apply to the other.

Desks

The Desk tab will show you how busy the area's on each floor are and where your connections are working. Different metrics are used to show you which desks are available and which desks are currently in use.

If desk sensors are installed it will even show you in real-time which area's are busy, quiet or even completely full. The green icon will indicate a quiet area and the red icon will indicate if an area is already fully booked.

This feature will mainly be used to see where you can work and what kind of work you can do at certain area's. If you want to work in a quiet area, you can search your office for quiet zones. If you need to work in an area with certain desk amenities like a double monitor, you will find this information here too.

Rooms

The map view shows you the full map and one selected room at a time. Swipe through the options or tap on the map indicator to see different rooms. The room at the bottom of your screen is marked with a black icon on the map. Tap that room to see more details.

For both the desktop and mobile experience, once a room is selected, a screen opens with the selected room's information (e.g., availability, room information, and a quick summary of booking details). The map is dynamic and visualizes available rooms based on the active filters. The map is reactive on the zoom levels, splitting (zoom-in) and grouping (zoom-out) the map indicators. The map indicators have a specific color coding (Map Indicators) to show selected and available rooms.

People

Find gives you a live picture of today's office. With Everyone everywhere, it shows you more of the people around you.

The People tab

The People tab in Find lists everyone with a desk booked today in the building you've selected. Your current floor is open, and other floors are collapsed with a count of people. Each person's photo appears on their desk on the map, so you can see at a glance who sits where.

Who appears depends on your organization's setting. With Only their connections, you see yourself, your connections and your group members. With All employees, you see everyone with a desk today.

Facilities

The Find tab also shows a numerous amount of facilities that are located in your office. Every facility type has it's own icon and when the facility type is selected in the panel it will highlight every facility of the same type on the map view. The icons of the selected facilities will be shown in blue.

Facility types

  • Workspaces

  • Meeting rooms

  • Food & Drinks

  • Lounges

  • Restrooms

  • Accessible restrooms

  • Reception

  • Lockers

  • Print area

  • Storage

  • Elevators

  • Stairs

  • Wardrobes

  • Other

The facility section can be very beneficial if you want to know how to find your way in the office. If your office doesn't have one of these facility types it will not be shown in your view.

Available filters

The available filters in the Rooms tab, accessible through the map section, are:

  • Duration

  • Seats

  • Equipment

  • Suitable for

Filters are dependent on active integrations. For example, if you have not synced your work calendar with Mapiq, you can't book a room through Mapiq; thus, the Duration filter is not visible.

By using the filters, specific rooms will be displayed or removed from the list of available rooms.

Map Indicators

On the map itself, map indicators are used. The indicators correspond with the occupancy status of the different rooms. In the image below, an overview of the different options is visualized.

Occupancy Indicators

The Find page uses real-time data from room booking and sensor information. Indicators help visualize availability and the source used to determine room occupancy. This is visualized in the room list section.

Icon

Description

Data is provided through the O365 or Google connection based on the room booking information. Green indicates that the room is available.

Data is provided through a sensor available in the meeting room. Green means the sensor is not detecting anyone in the room.

Data is provided through both room booking and sensor information. This is the most accurate form of occupancy detection.

Floor visualization

A building usually spans multiple floors, each with its own map. Initially, the user sees the floor map of the top result when opening the page. However, the map updates automatically to the correct floor, if a user selects a room not currently displayed or if a floor filter is applied.

Behind the scenes

  • Room booking via Find is only possible for bookable rooms, so that functionality is tied to Hybrid Meetings.

  • In cases where no rooms are available or no map is provided, users receive an explanation for the lack of display on the Find page. On mobile, if no maps are available for a building, the 'map' toggle at the top right is hidden.

  • To change your view to a different floor, use the floor button in the bottom right corner of the screen.

  • The search bar allow you to search for anything on the Find page not just the things that are relevant in the selected tab.
