Navigating the Map in Here & Now
Updated over a year ago

Navigating your workspace can often be challenging, especially when searching for specific resources. Mapiq's Here & Now page is designed to simplify this process, allowing you to understand and utilize your office resources more effectively by leveraging an interactive map. Compatible with both web and mobile platforms, Mapiq tailors its interface to your screen size to provide a comfortable and user-friendly experience.

Applies to

Since Here & Now is currently only relevant in combination with other functionalities, we have tied the visibility of the Here & Now tab to whether other functionalities are enabled.

The visibility of the Here & Now tab will not change once we add the map. This means the new Here & Now with the map will be available for all organizations that either have:

  • Only Hybrid Meetings (premium/enterprise)

  • Only Occupancy (add-on)

  • Both Occupancy and Hybrid Meetings

Room booking via Here & Now is only possible for bookable rooms, so that functionality is tied to Hybrid Meetings.

Understanding and navigating the map

Whether you use a desktop or mobile device, Mapiq's functionality remains consistent, with slight variations to suit different screen sizes.

On a desktop (https://app.mapiq.com), you can take advantage of the larger screen size to see all the information at a glance. You'll see the list of available rooms alongside the map. You'll see more room details if you click a room's name in the list or on the map. If you hover over a room name in the list corresponding to a room visible on the current map, you'll see a hover effect slightly enlarging the map indicator.

On a mobile device, the Here & Now feature gives you two viewing options: a list view and a map view. You can switch between the two using the icon in the top right of the screen.

Any filters you apply in one view will also apply to the other.

The map view shows you the full map and one selected room at a time. Swipe through the options or tap on the map indicator to see different rooms. The room at the bottom of your screen is marked with a black icon on the map. Tap that room to see more details.

For both the desktop and mobile experience, once a room is selected, a screen opens with the selected room's information (e.g., availability, room information, and a quick summary of booking details). The map is dynamic and visualizes available rooms based on the active filters. The map is reactive on the zoom levels, splitting (zoom-in) and grouping (zoom-out) the map indicators. The map indicators have a specific color coding (Map Indicators) to show selected and available rooms.

Available filters

The available filters, accessible through the map section, are:

  • Duration

  • Floor

  • Seats

Filters are dependent on active integrations. For example, if you have not synced your work calendar with Mapiq, you can't book a room through Mapiq; thus, the Duration filter is not visible.

By using the filters, specific rooms will be displayed or removed from the list of available rooms.

Map Indicators

On the map itself, map indicators are used. The indicators correspond with the occupancy status of the different rooms. In the image below, an overview of the different options is visualized.

Occupancy Indicators

The Here & Now page uses real-time data from room booking and sensor information. Indicators help visualize availability and the source used to determine room occupancy. This is visualized in the room list section.

Icon

Description

Data is provided through the O365 or Google connection based on the room booking information. Green indicates that the room is available.

Data is provided through a sensor available in the meeting room. Green means the sensor is not detecting anyone in the room.

Data is provided through both room booking and sensor information. This is the most accurate form of occupancy detection.

Floor visualization

A building usually spans multiple floors, each with its own map. Initially, the user sees the floor map of the top result when opening the page. However, the map updates automatically to the correct floor, if a user selects a room not currently displayed or if a floor filter is applied.

Exceptions

In cases where no rooms are available or no map is provided, users receive an explanation for the lack of display on the Here & Now page. On mobile, if no maps are available for a building, the 'map' toggle at the top right is hidden.
