Setting your booking preferences

The first time you open Mapiq, you are guided to a set of questions about your booking preferences to help you effortlessly book your workday with Mapiq. If desired, you can allow Mapiq to automatically book your favorite workspace with a simple click of the button. It’s up to you!

Your booking preferences

During onboarding, you are asked a set of questions around your booking preferences. The exact number of questions you get depend on your choices as well as the options offered to you within your organization. E.g. if your company does not have any parking facilities set up, you will not be asked to pick your default parking area.

At the end of this flow, you can choose whether Mapiq can automatically book a workspace for you based on these preferences, or whether you would like to do this manually. If you pick the manual option, your booking preferences are disregarded.

Be aware that Mapiq can only book a workspace automatically if you add your preferences. If Mapiq can’t make a suggestion based on your preferences, you will be asked to book manually.

What office do you usually go?

Specify the building you most frequently visit when you're working from the office. This office will automatically selected when you indicate you're planning to work from the office.

What floor do you usually work?

If there is a floor you frequently attend, when working from the office, specify this here. Again only 1 floor can be selected.

Note that if you select I don't have a preferred floor, Mapiq is unable to automatically book a workspace for you.

What area do you usually work?

Depending on your company's setup it could be the floors are divided into smaller areas, or zones/neighborhoods. Select the most suitable area for you. This option will not be presented to you, if you do not have a preferred floor.

What type of workspace do you prefer?

Specify if you prefer to work from a workspace that has specific amenities or equipment. This option is only presented if the building is provided with this type of information, which isn't always the case. Also note that if you have a preferred area, specific amenities available in other areas could be greyed out as they are not available in your preferred area.

Which parking lot do you usually go?

Similar to choosing your building, in case Parking is part of your company's subscription, you are presented with the option to select a parking lot.

Parking lots are linked to buildings, so even if your company does have parking zones configured, this screen will only be made available if they are linked to your preferred building.

What type of spot do you need?

As buildings have floors and areas underneath it, parking lots can have specific parking zones, for example charging stations for electric cars. Again, this is only available if zones are defined for the parking lot.

The final page summarizing all the booking preferences, in which you need to make a decision on whether you want Mapiq to book a workspace automatically or if you want to do this manually.

Automatic- vs manual booking

After setting your location preferences, you get an overview of all your preferences. At this point, you can determine whether you want Mapiq to book your workspace (based on your preferences), or whether you want to do this manually.

Automatic option will automatically book a workspace in your preferred area or a nearby alternative (based on your preferences). Good to know: even in the automatic option, you can always change the reservation and pick a custom location.

Manual option gives you more control and will bring you into the manual booking flow, where you can select a specific workspace for the day.

If Mapiq does not have enough information about your preferred location (e.g. because you specified you do not have a preferred floor) or if the preferred and nearby locations are fully, you will always be directed to the manual flow.

After selecting your preferences, you can confirm them and start booking your workweek. Of course, you can always adjust your preferences in your profile, read more about that here.
