Share Your Booking with Connections

Working together with colleagues is an essential aspect of office life. With Mapiq, you can connect with your colleagues to see who plans to be in the office and when. After establishing a connection, you can view your connected colleagues' workday or workspace bookings, and they can see yours. This article explains how this feature respects your privacy while giving you complete control over sharing your bookings.

Creating Connections

Mapiq is available on the web and mobile, with the connections feature accessible on both platforms. However, the location of this feature varies slightly between the two.

Mobile

  1. Open the app and tap the Connections icon in the menu bar.

  2. Tap the "+" button in the top right corner.

  3. Search for your colleague's name or email address.

  4. Tap "Connect" to send the request.

Web

  1. Visit https://app.mapiq.com and log in with your credentials.

  2. Click on the Connections icon in the top right corner.

  3. Press "+ Add Colleagues" in the menu that appears on the right.

  4. Search for your colleague's name or email address.

  5. Click the "Connect."

  6. A pop-up appears to confirm the connection request. Press "Send Request."

โœ… Your invite is sent to your colleague. Your connection request will appear under Your Connections with a "Request sent" envelope icon. Once your colleague accepts the request, their bookings appear on the home screen and the day overview. Colleagues will receive a notification in the notification center.

Deleting Connections

If you've switched teams and no longer want to see certain colleagues' connections, you can delete them. Your deleted connections will not be able to see your bookings anymore, and you won't be notified of the change.

Mobile

  1. You can go to your Connections page by tapping the Connections icon in the bottom menu bar.

  2. Swipe left on the connection you want to delete.

  3. You can tap the red cross on your connection's right side and confirm the removal.

Web

  1. Visit https://app.mapiq.com and log in with your credentials.

  2. Go to your Connections page by clicking the icon in the top right corner.

  3. Click the cross next to your connected colleagues to delete the connection.

  4. Confirm the removal by pressing the Remove button.

Receiving a Connection Request

You'll receive a connection request when a colleague wants to connect with you through Mapiq. New requests are displayed in the notification center with a red dot on the notification icon. To view your active requests, you can go to the Your Connections page, where you can accept or ignore any request. Ignoring a request won't notify the sender, and unanswered requests will be deleted after 30 days.

Connection Suggestions

In addition to manually creating connections, Mapiq automatically suggests connections for you. Suggestions appear when your account meets the following criteria:

  1. You have two accepted connection requests.

  2. You are an active user with a booking made in the past month.

  3. Your accepted connections are active, meaning they have made a booking in the past month.

When your account meets the criteria above, a carousel appears within Your Connections. Press "Connect" under the People You May Know section to send your colleague a connection request, which they can accept or reject like any other request.

Filtering your Connections

After you make a connection, it is possible to filter on specific ones. This is very useful in searching for particular colleagues and booking a spot near them. To filter on connections, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure you are in the Week overview in the app. On the web, this is the vertical bar on the left. In the mobile app, you need to select the Week Overview icon.

  2. In the Week Overview, select "Filter."

  3. Search for connections based on email or name and select them. Connections are grouped based on their availability in the office ("Connections coming to the office" or "Not coming to the office").

  4. Select "Done" after selecting to have an overview of your filtered connections in your Week overview. Next to "Filter" you have an overview of your filtered Connections.

Booking Near Your Connections

Connections are displayed in three different overviews:

  • Booking page: Connections are indicated with the colleague's initials or profile picture on the day they will be in the office.

  • Here & Now page: When selecting a specific day, all your connections with bookings are shown. If your organization has multiple buildings configured in Mapiq, connections are displayed in the office where they made a booking.

  • Connections Overview: A list of all your active connections can be found in the Connections menu.

You can book both on the Booking- and Here & Now pages to secure a spot close to your connection.

โš ๏ธ If you want to filter for a specific connection, note that this is only possible through the web version. To do so, click the Filter Connections button on the main page and select the users you want to view. Keep in mind that you can only filter connections that have bookings.

The booking process will proceed as follows:

  1. Determine which connections you want to work with and on which day.

  2. Select that day, and choose the Connections tab on the Here & Now page.

  3. Locate your colleague in the building where they booked a workday or workspace.

  4. If capacity allows, you now have the option to make a booking at your colleagues' locations.

  5. Check if the selected desk fits your liking, adjust if necessary, and press Save.
