Editing a building used to feel risky, because a wrong move stayed invisible until it went live and undoing it meant a support ticket. The edit history takes that risk away. While you work, it keeps a record of every edit session in your draft, so you can see who changed what and step back to any point yourself.
Applies to
Admin roles: Subscription Owner, Subscription Admin, and Building Admin
Where to find it
The edit history sits inside the building model, where you are already working. Open the Buildings tab, select your building, then click Continue editing to enter the building model. Edit history is the last item in the menu on the left, below Overview, Workspaces, and Meeting rooms.
đĄThe breadcrumb at the top shows where you are, so you can always step back to the building or to the full list of buildings.
What you can see there
The panel covers your Current draft: everything that has been changed since the last publish and is not live yet.
Edit sessions are grouped by day, newest first. Each session shows its time range, how many edits it holds, and who made them. Sessions made by Mapiq support carry a Mapiq chip, so you can always tell your team's work from ours. Expand a session to see the individual edits and their timestamps, in your own timezone.
â ď¸ Note: Restoring works on your draft only. A published version is read-only, so nothing you do here changes what your employees see until you publish again.
Restoring to a Specific Point
Use this when part of your draft is good and only the later work needs to go. Everything up to and including the point you pick stays, and everything after it is removed.
Open
Edit historyin the building model. The side panel with the
Edit historyopens. Find the session you want to keep. Expand it if you want to pick a single edit inside it instead of the whole session.Select the radio button next to that session or edit. Everything that will be removed turns struck through, so you can check what you are about to lose before you commit.
Click
Restoreand confirm.
đĄThe newest edit is marked Latest and cannot be selected, because restoring to it would change nothing.
Restoring replaces your current draft with the selected state. It never touches a published version, so what your employees see stays as it is.
Looking further back
The edit history here is about your current draft. For everything your building has been through before that, open View version history on the building overview. It lists every published version and who published it, and it is also the only place where you can clear a draft with Discard all edits. Read Using the Building Version History for that walkthrough.
Behind the scenes
Restore works on the draft only â Published versions are read-only. To undo something that is already live, contact us.
Restoring cannot be undone â The action asks for confirmation first, and there is no way back afterwards.
Your team's edits sit in the same draft â A draft collects everyone's work, so restoring can remove edits made by other admins.
Mapiq edits are labelled â Sessions made by Mapiq support carry a
Mapiqchip, so you can tell them apart from your team's work.Times follow your time zone â Every timestamp in the history is shown in your own time zone, not the building's.
