Editing your Building Information

Buildings are ever-developing, office locations grow, schedules shift, and details change over time. To keep Mapiq in sync with these developments, you can update your building settings directly in the admin portal. This article walks you through how to do that.

Editing your building

To edit a building follow these steps to open the building menu:

  1. Navigate to Buildings and select the building you want edit from the list.

  2. Click Continue editing.

  4. Select Edit building .

  5. A new window opens on the right of the Building overview page.

Behind the scenes

  • Nothing is live until you publish — Every change you save lands in the building's draft and stays invisible to employees until you publish. This applies to all editable fields: name, capacity, time zone, opening days, and location.

  • The building status tells you where you stand — In the Buildings list, a building reads Current when everything is published, Draft when it holds unpublished changes, and Not published when it has never gone live. The number next to the status is how many changes are waiting.

  • Batching keeps your setup consistent — You can make several changes in one session and save them together before publishing, which avoids partial updates reaching employees.

  • Capacity is calculated from the hierarchy — Building capacity is the sum of all capacities set at floor, area, and desk level. You can only override it manually at building level when no capacity has been set lower down.

  • Review before you publishReview & publish shows what changed, what is blocking you, and what publishing will do to live bookings and building services. Lowering capacity or changing opening days can affect existing reservations, so it is worth a look. Read Reviewing & Publishing Your Building(s) for the full walkthrough.

  • You can step back before publishingVersion history in the building model lets you discard the draft or restore it to a specific point. Once a version is published, it can no longer be rolled back. Read Using the Building Version History for the full walkthrough.

  • Your team shares one draft — A draft collects everyone's edits, so publishing also releases changes made by other admins, and discarding removes them.

  • No add-on needed, but rights are — Editing a building requires no add-on. You do need Building Admin rights or higher, such as Subscription Admin, for the buildings in your scope.
