Using the Building Version History

Your building has a past, and the version history is where you can see all of it: every version you have published, who published it, and the draft your team is working on right now. It is also where you go when a draft has gone in the wrong direction and you want to clear it and start again.

Applies to

  • Admin roles: Subscription Owner, Subscription Admin, and Building Admin for the buildings in their scope

What you can see there

The page has two parts, and together they cover everything that happened to your building.

Current draft is the work that has not gone live yet. The card tells you when the draft started, when it was last edited and by whom, and how many unpublished edits it holds. Two actions sit below it: View edit history and Discard all edits.

Published versions lists every version you have released, newest first, labelled by year and publish order such as 2026.5. Each entry shows when it was published, by whom, and how many edits it introduced. The version your employees see right now carries a Current badge, and each version has its own View edit history.

⚠️Note: Everything you can change here works on your draft only. A published version is read-only, so nothing you do changes what your employees see until you publish again.

Opening the Version History

The version history covers the whole life of your building, from the draft you are working on now to every version you have published.

  1. Go to the Buildings tab and select the building you want to look at.

  2. On the building overview, click View version history.

  3. The Version history page opens with Current draft at the top and Published versions below it, newest first.

  4. Click View edit history on the card you want to inspect. The Edit history panel slides in.

  5. Sessions are grouped by day, newest first, and show their time range, how many edits they hold, and who made them. Expand a session to see the individual edits and their timestamps.

💡The edit history of a published version is there to read, not to change. Only the current draft can be restored or discarded.

💡Tip: The panel you open on the current draft is the same one you get from Edit history in the building model, so you can restore your draft to an earlier point from here too. Read Using the Building Edit History for that walkthrough.

Discarding All Edits

Use this when you want to start over. Your draft is cleared and the building returns to its latest published version.

  1. Open Version history in the building overview.

  2. On the Current draft card, click Discard all edits.

  3. Read the confirmation window. It names how many unpublished edits will be removed and reminds you that published versions are untouched.

  4. Click Discard all edits to confirm.

🚨 That button is the point of no return. There is no second confirmation, the edits are permanently removed, and the draft may hold work from other admins. Tell your team before you discard.

Behind the scenes

  • Discarding only lives here — Discard all edits is available in the version history, not in the building model. Clearing a draft is deliberate, so it takes the longer route.

  • Published versions cannot be rolled back — You can restore or discard inside the current draft, but a version that is live stays live. Contact us if you need one reverted.

  • Your team shares one draft — A draft collects everyone's work, so discarding removes edits made by other admins as well as your own.

  • Mapiq edits are labelled — Sessions made by Mapiq support carry a Mapiq chip, so you can tell them apart from your team's work.

  • Versions are numbered per year — Version labels combine the year and the publish order, and the count restarts each January.
