App links are the fastest way to bring your employees from a physical space straight into the Mapiq app. Each App link is a short URL with its own QR code that you place in your office. One scan with a phone, and your employee lands right where they need to be: no searching the map, no scrolling through floors. You manage all App links per building, right from Mapiq Admin.
What happens when someone scans an App link
Every App link is connected to a location (a meeting room, facility, or area) and has a feature intent. The intent decides what opens when your employee scans the QR code:
Controls: Opens the linked location with its controls, so your employee can adjust the light and temperature right away.
Any available feature on the location: Opens the card of the linked location, where your employee can book it or make use of linked services.
Check in at the building: Lets your employee check in at the building with one scan. This intent is linked to the building instead of a location, which makes it a good fit for the entrance or reception.
đĄ If your employee is already signed in to the Mapiq app, the scan takes them straight to the space. If not, Mapiq first asks them to log in and then continues to the right location.
Where to find App links
You find App links per building. Go to Buildings, open a building, and select App links from the dropdown next to the building name in the breadcrumb.
The App links overview
The overview lists every App link in the building. For each link you see:
Column | What it shows |
The unique code of the link, which is also part of its URL.
The space the link is connected to.
The floor the location is on. Building-level links have no floor.
The kind of location, such as a room or the building itself.
What opens when the link is scanned.
Quick actions to copy the link or view its QR code.
Use the search bar to find a link by location or id, and the column filters to narrow the list down.
Adding App links
Select Add to create new App links. You can choose between two approaches:
Generate app links and commission them individually later. Create a batch of empty links first, for example to print QR codes in advance, and connect each one to a location afterwards.
Generate & commission app links at once. Pick the feature intent and the type of location (workspaces, rooms, or facilities), then select the exact locations per floor. Mapiq creates a connected link for each one in a single go.
Mapiq warns you when a selected location doesn't seem to support the intent you chose, so you can adjust before you commission.
Editing an App link
Select a link to open its details. Here you can copy the URL, download the QR code, change the feature intent, or move the link to a different location on the floor plan. Select Save & Publish to apply your changes. A link you no longer need can be archived from the same panel.
Exporting App links
Select Export to download QR codes in bulk. You choose between an SVG vector image (best for printing at any size) and a PNG image, and you get a preview before you export. Select one or more links first to export only those, or export them all.
The download is a ZIP file with a folder of QR code images and an overview file listing each link's id, intent, URL, location, and matching image file. Handy when you hand the QR codes over to a printer or facility team.
Behind the scenes
Links are managed per building â Each building has its own set of App links, so you create and export them building by building.
Check in works on building level only â The check in intent can only be used for a link connected to the building itself, not to a meeting room, facility, or area.
Not every location supports every intent â Controls only work for spaces that have an integration with controllable equipment. Mapiq flags locations that don't seem to support the chosen intent.
The QR code stays the same when you move a link â Changing a link's location or intent keeps its id and URL, so you don't need to reprint the QR code.
The export captures a moment in time â The overview file lists each link's location at the time of export. Re-export after you make changes.
Signing in is still required once â An employee who isn't signed in to Mapiq is asked to log in first before the link opens the space.
