Editing an App link

Offices change, and your App links can change with them. When a room gets a new purpose or a QR code moves to another wall, you can update the link behind it in a few clicks. Every edit happens in the link's card, and the QR code on the wall keeps working.

Applies to

  • Admin roles: Subscription Owner, Subscription Admin, and Building Admin for the building you are working in.

  • Add-ons: No add-on is needed to edit App links. The Controls intent needs an integration that lets Mapiq control the location, for example its lights or temperature.

Start with what a scan should open. You can switch the feature intent without touching anything else.

Changing the Feature Intent

Change what opens when someone scans the App link.

  1. Go to the Buildings tab, select the building, and open App links from the dropdown in the breadcrumb.

  2. Click the App link you want to edit. The App link panel opens.

  3. Open the Feature intent dropdown and choose Any available features, Controls, or Check in at the building.

  4. Click Save & Publish.

  5. A Published changes confirmation appears, and the Intent column shows the new value.

Moved a QR code to another spot? Point the link to its new location.

Moving an App Link to Another Location

Connect an App link to a different meeting room, facility, or area.

  1. Go to the Buildings tab, select the building, and open App links from the dropdown in the breadcrumb.

  2. Click the App link you want to move. The App link panel opens.

  3. Next to Location, click the pencil icon.

  4. In the Locations window, pick the floor at the top left.

  5. Select the new location in the list or on the floor plan.

  6. Click Confirm.

  7. Click Save & Publish.

  8. A Published changes confirmation appears, and the list shows the new location, floor, and type.

Behind the scenes

  • The QR code stays the same — Changing the intent or the location keeps the link id and URL, so you don't need to reprint the QR code.

  • Changes go live on Save & Publish — Edits in the panel only take effect once you click Save & Publish. Click Cancel to close the panel without changes.

  • One check-in link per building — A building can only have one check-in link, so keep that in mind before you switch a link to Check in at the building.

  • Controls need an integration — The Controls intent only works when an integration is in place that lets Mapiq take control of the room, such as its lights or temperature.

  • Retiring a link is a separate step — The Archive button in the same panel switches a link off completely. See Archiving an App link before you use it.
