Archiving an App link

Not every QR code stays on the wall forever. When a room closes, a space gets a new layout, or you simply printed too many links, archiving keeps your list clean and makes sure nobody lands on a space that's no longer there. You can archive one link from its card or clear out several at once from the list.

Applies to

  • Admin roles: Subscription Owner, Subscription Admin, and Building Admin for the building you are working in.

  • Add-ons: No add-on is needed to archive App links.

🚨 Heads up: An archived link stops working right away. Remove its QR codes and URLs from your office and any shared materials before you archive it.

Retiring a single link you're already looking at? Do it from its card.

Archiving a Single App Link

Archive one App link from its card.

  1. Go to the Buildings tab, select the building, and open App links from the dropdown in the breadcrumb.

  2. Click the App link you want to archive. The App link panel opens.

  3. Click Archive at the bottom of the panel.

  4. In the confirmation window, click Archive.

  5. An App link archived confirmation appears, and the link disappears from the list.

Cleaning up a batch, such as spare links you printed ahead of time? Archive them in one go.

Archiving Several App Links at Once

Archive a selection of App links from the list.

  1. Go to the Buildings tab, select the building, and open App links from the dropdown in the breadcrumb.

  2. Select the checkbox in front of each link you want to archive.

  3. Click Archive in the toolbar. The button shows the number of selected links, for example Archive 2.

  4. In the confirmation window, click Archive.

  5. A confirmation appears, and the links disappear from the list.

Behind the scenes

  • Archiving isn't deleting — Mapiq doesn't remove the link for good. You can reuse it later by reactivating it.

  • The QR code stops working immediately — Anyone who scans an archived link's QR code or opens its URL no longer reaches the space.

  • Moving is often the better choice — If the QR code just needs to point somewhere else, change its location instead. See Editing an App link.

  • The toolbar only shows Archive with a selection — The Archive button appears in the toolbar once you select at least one link.
